Artwork > New Work (2025/ 2026)

Statement

This body of work begins with grounds composed of materially driven abstraction and found imagery. Onto this framework, I layer the visual clutter of popular culture that has seeped into our collective memory—logos, stills from reality television and internet videos, fragments of advertising, and icons from the user experience of social media. These elements are cropped, overlapped, and layered until they teeter between recognition and absurdity. This friction between polish and imperfection foregrounds the act of making, resisting the seamlessness of mass media. While often humorous, these moments aren’t just jokes—they’re strategies for slowing down images designed to move too fast. This work traffics in short attention spans and sponsored content. It is an attempt to balance the material facts of making with the profound fictions of mass media and the digital.
